... bring home the Birkin - or any item after purchase for that matter? I think I would carry mine out of the store, on its own merit, rather than have it hidden in a store bag. After all it is ready to use and enjoy so why give up the opportunity.

I did ride my last bicycle home from the bike shop, and I have taken bites out of loaves of bread when at the checkout. So it should come as no surprise that I have worn shoes and socks, and hats and coats, and carried bags - not the store bag, but a bag I paid for - out of stores.

I have yet to do this for other items, such as ties or suits, but I think it is just a matter of time before I do. I can think of no better way.
